Tendrils...

Hurricane season getting closer....

 Crazy mighty wind...
 Dire squalid water...
 breaking, cortorting, twisting...
 hurricane's token wrath
  --------

As we get closer to hurricane season
here on the Gulf coast,
I remember just how much
force is behind a hurricane.
The most memorable hurricane for me was
Hurricane Beulah in 1967.

We lost everything.

I hope this season is a quiet one.

Finally... RAIN!

Dry
dehydrated
thirsty

THEN...
RAIN!

water
 drops
singing
----------------------

We recently got about 2 inches of rain,
after a very long dry spell.
It wasn't much, but it was a blessing.
I could almost hear the water drops singing.
so I wrote this small stone.

Moon scatters...

The moon scatters
glistening radiance

To the artist in you....

Artist,
don't hold back
by the very requirement
of getting it right.

Calls of the Birds

shingled breast of scaled quail
vibrates
calling
chip-churr, chip-churr
------------------

red shouldered hawk
calls out 'kee-ah' in his
acipiter flight
 ---------------------

white tailed hawk sings
'kee-la'
'ke'
'kee-la'
as he hovers
on the warm wind currents

Ground Squirrels

 Ground squirrels aim for salvation
beneath earth's permissive crust

My friend Karen and I walk around the football field at the school most mornings.
This is the time of year little ground squirrels like to burrow down for the winter.
Quite a few entrances can be seen at the edge of the field now.  One day we spied
a little guy kicking out dirt and popping up now and then.  We couldn't get a photo.
 I know they are rodents,
and cause many problems for people, but I couldn't help
but smile when  I saw him.
Just one of God's creatures.

Wing Dust

A small yellow moth
leaves wing dust
on my hand
like a bit of
powdered sunshine.

After the Rain

Sage leaves dance in the light
and breathes color
into the shimmering air.
